CJC-1295: half-life, evidence and what trials used
CJC-1295 is a long-acting analogue of growth hormone-releasing hormone, modified to bind albumin and extend its duration of action.
Also known as CJC1295, DAC:GRF, modified GRF 1-29.
Evidence and regulatory status
In registered human trials. Not approved for this use.
Not approved by the FDA for any indication. Prohibited in sport as a growth hormone-releasing factor.
Half-life
CJC-1295 has a reported terminal half-life of about 7 days. Estimated at 5.8 to 8.1 days in the phase 1 study. Figure taken from Teichman 2006.
What published trials used
- The phase 1 study administered single subcutaneous doses of 30, 60, 125 and 250 micrograms per kilogram to healthy adults.
Reported for reference only. What a trial administered under supervision is not a recommendation, and Gireta does not make one.

Common questions
- What is the half-life of CJC-1295?
- The phase 1 study estimated it at 5.8 to 8.1 days, which is unusually long for a peptide and is the point of the albumin-binding modification.
- Is CJC-1295 approved?
- No. It has published phase 1 human data but no FDA approval, and development did not continue to a marketed product.
- How much research exists on CJC-1295?
- Thirty-three PubMed records in total, of which twenty-one are tagged to human subjects and two are typed as clinical trials. That is a small literature by any standard.
