Find great moments, and stay safe on copyright
How to spot the moments that work as clips, and how to use footage you are allowed to use.

In short
- A great moment works with no context: a reveal, a strong opinion, a reaction or a punchline.
- Only clip footage the campaign gives you or that you have the rights to use.
- Fair use is not a licence. When in doubt, ask the campaign or skip it.
What makes a moment clippable
- It makes sense in under 30 seconds with no setup
- Something changes: a reveal, a twist or a big reaction
- There is a line people will repeat or argue about
- It starts strong, so you can cut straight to the action
Staying safe on copyright
Clip what you are allowed to clip. Campaigns give you their own footage or name the sources you may use. Footage from elsewhere, music you do not have rights to and other creators' clips can get your posts removed and your account struck.
- Use the campaign's source and assets
- Use platform sounds rather than ripped music
- Do not repost another clipper's edit
- Keep the brand's watermark if the brief asks for it
